We will meet and greet you in our head offices where you will get acquainted with your BMW rental motorbike. Corinth
You will start your motorcycle tour towards Corinth. A marvel of architecture constructed in the 1800s allowed the connection of the Gulf of Corinth with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea. It cuts through the narrow Isthmus of Corinth and separates the Peloponnese from the Greek mainland, arguably making the peninsula an island. The canal was dug through the Isthmus at sea level and has no locks. It is 6.4 kilometers in length and only 21.4 meters wide at its base.
After a brief stop, you will continue toward Kalavryta. This beautiful town is located at the foot of Mount Chelmos and it is a must-see place throughout the year. The center of the town has a lovely stone-built house, and buzzing squares filled with excellent coffee places, bars, and wonderful tavernas serving local delicacies.
Kalavryta
Famous for its train (Odontotos as it is known in Greek), the rack railway service was established back in 1896. Initially served with the transportation of goods and services and nowadays mainly as a tourist attraction that will take you on a tour around Vouraikos Gorge, a place considered to be one of the most scenic in Greece! Kalavryta and its surrounding area have plenty of history. The Agia Lavra Monastery, built in the 10th century, played a major part in the 1821 outbreak against the Ottoman Empire. The Mega Spilaio Monastery being the oldest Monastery in Greece is imposing as it is built right on the steep cliffs opposite the Vouraikos River.
Finally, its most recent and saddest history takes place in 1943 when 1500 locals were executed by the occupying forces. To commemorate this tragic event a Huge Cross has been erected at the execution point and a Municipal Museum has been built so that this memory is preserved.
Cave of Lakes
The next day you will visit the Cave of Lakes. Its impressive stalactite and stalagmite formations will captivate you before continuing to the Planitero region. A landscape full of water streams and plane trees will be the setting for your lunch.
On your way back to our base in Athens, you will pass by Stymfalia Lake, where the sixth labor of Heracles took place with the extermination of the Stymphalian birds. A wonderful 2-day motorcycle tour experience full of amazing landscapes, history, and sights.
